Rya M. Nelson

Associate

Rya M. Nelson is an Associate Attorney who exclusively represents Plaintiffs in employment, personal injury, and civil rights matters. Rya brings a wealth of legal experience, genuine empathy, and a commitment to justice to the firm. Throughout her career, Rya has handled countless cases from intake, through extensive litigation, and to jury verdict. She excels in representing individuals who have been injured, wronged, and discriminated against.

Before joining the firm, Rya honed her skills at another Plaintiffs’ litigation firm, deepening her commitment to advocacy for individuals over institutions. She has proudly and solely represented Plaintiffs her entire legal career.

Rya earned her Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law, where she served as Co-President of the Latinx Law Students Association (LLSA) and competed in the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition. Most notably, she externed with the Hon. Mary E. Wiss at the San Francisco Superior Court where she gained firsthand insight into civil proceedings from the bench’s perspective. Rya also graduated cum laude from the University of Arizona where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Law.

When she is not fighting for her clients, Rya can be found snowboarding, hiking, or practicing hot yoga.

Rya is currently a member of various Plaintiffs organizations, including the Consumer Attorneys of California (CAOC), the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (SFTLA), the American Association of Justice (AAJ), the Alameda County Bar Association (ACBA), the San Francisco La Raza Lawyers Association, the Queen’s Bench Bar Association, and the Women Lawyers of Alameda County (WLAC). Rya is also a board member of the Alameda Contra Costa County Trial Lawyers Association (ACCTLA).
