Medical Malpractice

Oakland and Northern California Medical Malpractice Attorneys

Gwilliam, Ivary, Chiosso, Cavalli & Brewer is an Oakland based law firm that has been representing medical malpractice victims in the Bay Area, throughout northern California and beyond for the past 30 years. Today, our practice has evolved to where we take only those cases where we believe we can make a real difference. Typically, these are serious/catastrophic injury or wrongful death claims caused by doctor error or hospital negligence, and they often involve complex medical issues.

It is important to note that whether the case involves a doctor who fails to diagnose a treatable illness, a hospital policy that deviates from the normal standard of care or a simple mistake on a nursing chart, changes in the law have made it increasingly difficult to win significant judgments in medical malpractice cases. However, where there is a case, there is also a way to win. Our lawyers have the experience, the understanding of medical evidence, and work with respected medical experts who help evaluate the liability of these medical malpractice cases.

But our experience over the last three decades has shown us that monetary results are only a small part of our job. For this reason, we strive to help our clients in ways that go well beyond just their immediate legal needs wherever possible. Each case we handle has an assigned team which includes one of the firm's partners (who has 25 to 40 years of trial experience), an associate attorney, a paralegal and a secretary. This ensures that someone who is familiar with your case and knows you will almost always be available to respond to your needs and promptly answer your questions.
